Jesus Walks on Water

Jesus’ disciples were rowing their way across the Sea of Galilee. As the sailed, a storm rose up and threatened to throw them into the roaring waters. But then they saw it – a figure out on the water. As the figure drew closer, they recognized Him. Jesus was walking towards them on the water. Peter cried out, “Jesus, if it’s really you, ask me to come to you.” Jesus said, “Come!” Peter, eyes on Jesus, stepped out of the boat and began walking on the water, too! But then he was distracted by the wind and the waves. He lost his courage and began to sink. But Jesus grabbed him just in time. “Your faith is so small, Peter!” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”

Here is a snapshot of the lesson details for this week:

Bible Story: Jesus Walks on Water
Big Idea: Jesus has power over our problems, so we can look to Him in times of trouble.
Memory Verse: “Let us keep looking to Jesus.” Hebrews 12:2a (NIrV)

When our eyes are fixed on the wind and the waves we sink into discouragement and despair. But Jesus is bigger than any problem we face. So, let’s live by faith rather than in fear. Let’s fix our eyes on Jesus.
