Resurrection Sunday
Apr 5, 2026 • Pastor Duane Butler
Nicodemus, a wealthy Jewish leader and Pharisee, faced three major crises of faith in his journey with Jesus. First, Jesus told him he must be born again despite his religious knowledge. Second, he challenged his own religious establishment to defend Jesus. Third, he watched Jesus die on the cross, seemingly ending all hope. However, Nicodemus responded with costly faith, bringing 100 pounds of expensive spices worth $150,000-$200,000 today to prepare Jesus's body for burial. His extravagant investment demonstrated complete commitment to Christ, even at the cost of his religious status. The resurrection validates our faith and calls us to spare no expense in our commitment to Christ, becoming the fragrance of God to the world around us.
