Palm Sunday

Mar 29, 2026    Pastor Duane Butler

This powerful Palm Sunday message invites us into the profound truth that our King is coming - not just as a historical event, but as a present reality and future hope. We explore Matthew 21 and the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, where He boldly declared His identity as Messiah by riding on a donkey, fulfilling ancient prophecy. The Hebrew phrase 'Baruch haba b'shem Adonai' - blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord - becomes our declaration of faith. But here's where it gets deeply personal: we're reminded that disappointment is actually evidence of faith. Every time we've been let down by leaders, relationships, or circumstances, it reveals that we had the capacity to trust and believe. Israel experienced centuries of disappointment - from King Saul to Solomon to political oppressors like Rome - yet they kept crying 'Hosanna,' which means 'save us now.' We face similar disappointments today in politics, relationships, and life's unexpected turns. But unlike earthly kings who fail us, Jesus is the King who will never disappoint. He came once in peace on a donkey, but He's coming again with fire in His eyes on a white horse. This message challenges us to hold onto hope during Holy Week and beyond, remembering that even when things get worse before they get better, our King is faithful, our King reigns over every circumstance, and our King is coming for those who believe.
