Debt Free

This powerful message challenges us to examine our relationship with money and debt through the lens of God's economy. At the heart of this teaching is the story from 2 Kings 4, where a widow facing crushing debt and the potential loss of her sons to slavery receives miraculous provision through the prophet Elisha. What makes this story so profound is that God didn't simply erase her debt supernaturally—instead, He gave her a miracle that required her participation and taught her how to work within His principles. The oil that never ran out represents God's inexhaustible provision, but notice that she had to pour it, collect vessels, and then take it to the marketplace. This teaches us that while God provides the miracle, we must engage in the process. The message draws a sobering connection between debt and slavery, reminding us that Proverbs 22:7 declares the borrower is servant to the lender. We're challenged to consider our ways, as Haggai 1:5-7 instructs, examining whether we're earning wages only to put them in a bag with holes. The call is clear: God wants us free in every area—spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially. Through practical tools like the debt snowball method and biblical stewardship principles, we're given a roadmap to freedom. The ultimate message is that just as Jesus paid our sin debt that we could never pay, He also wants to lead us into complete freedom in every area of our lives.
