What do you See?

Jun 28, 2026    Pastor Duane Butler

This powerful message explores the transformative nature of perception and how our understanding of God fundamentally shapes our identity and destiny. Drawing from Matthew 16, we encounter Jesus standing at the gates of hell—a literal place of pagan worship and perversion—asking His disciples the most pivotal question: 'Who do you say that I am?' Peter's revelation that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, wasn't born from human wisdom but from divine revelation. The teaching unpacks how this same revelation changes everything about who we are. When we truly perceive God—not through our feelings, circumstances, or limited natural understanding—but through His revelation, we discover our true identity hidden in Christ. The message challenges us to examine whether we're praying bold prayers for ourselves or only for others, whether we approach God's throne as strangers begging for scraps or as beloved children who know their Father's heart. We're reminded that we are God's workmanship, His good choice, and that marvelous are His works. This isn't arrogance but confidence in what God has done. The call is clear: know God, know yourself; no God, no you. Our identity, purpose, and strength are all locked up in Him, waiting to be uncovered through intimate relationship and revelation.
