How to Have the Best Year of Your Life Part 3: "Breaking Negativity"

Col 3;2

The first place people turn away from God is in their thoughts;

Gen. 6;5        Rms.8;5-7

Your goal should be to let your mind be controlled by the Holy Spirit

Any negative thought can be reversed

Your brain wasn't designed to make sudden permanent changes

Your brain follows patterns and habits over the years

Mtt 12;43;45

For many people negative thinking is a habit which, over time becomes an addiction

Negative thinking is addictive to the mind, the body, and the emotions

Don't accept every thought as fact

Pastor Lloyd      Jan. 6, 2013  - “How to Have the Best Year of Your Life”

Our thoughts become self-fulfilling prophecies

What are thoughts?

They are the ways in which we are conscious of things

Thoughts are made up of memories, perceptions, and beliefs.

Our thoughts evoke the feelings that frames our world, and motivates our actions.

Our thoughts are the origin of our behavior

Are your thoughts harmful, or harmless?

The Optimism of Love

Written by // Pastor Lloyd Bustard Categories // Sermon Notes

 I Cor 13;7

Love bears all things, believeth all things, hopes all things, & endures all things.

Love is bravely invisibly optimistic

There is nothing cheap or shallow about loves optimism

An optimism based on ignorance isn’t optimism at all

In the stages of life there is;

First; the shallow optimist
Second; the pessimist
Third; the real optimist

Love Revival Pt. 2 - 12/2/12

Categories // Sermon Notes

Pastor Lloyd                Sunday, Dec. 2

1 Cor. 13:8

Love is chivalrous, love is reverential, love is worshipful

Whenever sons or daughters dishonor their parents, they sin against love

Right and truth are central to love

To be right is good, but to do right in a good way is better

Love is not only right and true, but love is delicate, tactful, and courteous

Romans 5:7

A gentleman is a man of a gentle spirit, and good deeds.

A man expresses himself in his manners

Rude behavior is always the result of selfishness

The mark of true love is that it never seeks its own

Love lives not to get but to give

From start to finish, Jesus’ life is an illustration and example of unselfish love

Love Revival - 11/25/12

Categories // Sermon Notes

Pastor Lloyd        Sunday, Nov 25         Title: “Love Revival”

I Cor. 13;4      John 3;25-30   Acts 11;19-26

“Love envies not” because it has a different scale of values

Love delights not to get, but to give

Love is the giving impulse

The very nature of love is unselfish and sacrificial.

The cure for the world’s woes is a love that envies not

“Love does not parade itself, and is not puffed up”

“Puffed up” refers to the inward position.

“Parades itself” refers to the outward conduct and behavior

There is no brag, or swagger about love

Why isn’t love puffed up? The inner truth about the humility of love is found in its greatness.

The big things don’t boast!

When love burns in your heart you will never seek to be first, you will only seek to serve!

Envy and pride are two of the world’s most prolific causes of misery.
